In 1917 Sergei Rachmaninoff fled his beloved Russia forever. He remained one of the world’s most celebrated pianists and composers, but he would always see himself as ‘a ghost wandering forever in the world.’ RCO Editions # 4 places Rachmaninoff’s famous Third Piano Concerto at the heart of his story, as a wandering ghost, between the works of his beloved Tchaikovsky, and his final opus, the Symphonic Dances.
